HORSE TRAINING

Coral Lockeswood, the co-owner of Blue Fairy Acres, is twenty-nine years old and has ridden horses for nine years. She believes in a thorough foundation for horseback riding, focusing on safety, education, proper position, and the art of good horsemanship. She keeps lessons fun and educational, teaching how to ride while growing passion, love, and respect for horses.

Horseback riding isn’t just a sport, but a lifestyle that can bring years of joy.

Coral currently teaches beginner lessons from basic horseback riding to introductory jumping. In taking lessons with Coral, you will experience an extensive horse education, learning about horse sports, breeds, anatomy, proper grooming, tack, horse care, barn etiquette, and the basic foundations of riding. She also celebrates the completion of each part of your horse journey with small graduation shows where you can showcase your new skills.

She believes in positivity, equality, and keeping a healthy mindset in the sport, pushing students to be their best while keeping equestrianism fun.

In 2017, she participated in a 3-day Wylene Davis horse backing clinic where she learned many methods for desensitizing horses and how to emergency dismount. In 2022, she participated in a horse communication clinic by Jamee Swope, and a Diane Brandow dressage clinic.

Besides the art of horseback riding, Coral also has experience in training horses. She trained an unbacked sixteen-year-old horse to lunge, tack up, cross tie manners, ground manners, pressure for riding, and desensitization from 2017 – 2020. In 2022, she retrained an abused saddle seat morgan, fixing 80% of her fear issues, such as refusal to use the entire arena, bolting away from scary objects or sounds, inability to focus, and a forward trot. Now the morgan horse walks, trots, and canters around the arena, goes over poles, can stand while objects are picked up while mounted, and does not spook at sounds. In 2021, Coral also ground trained a Nokota stallion, teaching him to lunge, back up, move away from pressure, stand at the cross ties, and walk like a gentleman.
